In 1961, brothers Earl and Jack Gerard opened a business in downtown Washington. That same year, Earl's son, Richard went to work sweeping floors for them. Today, Richard along with his son Richard Gerard III, run Piston Ring and Machine Company on John Small Ave in Washington.
Fifty-two years since opening their doors, the Gerard family continues to offer the highest quality parts and service for not only cars and trucks, but also marine, logging equipment, and industrial machinery.
Piston Ring and Machine is not only a leader in parts but also offers Dupont paints to the already extensive line of 3M products. Not to mention the inclusion of Beta Marine Engines, a leader in the sail boating community. Unlike, all the big name chain stores, Piston Ring and Machine offers a full service department to back up its products.
Piston Ring and Machine not only has a service department that works on all types of vehicles, equipment, tractors and everything that goes along with them, but we also have a complete machine shop. We do everything from brakes, cylinder heads, and boring cylinder blocks. We can do ANYTHING as far as an engine is concerned.
We make hydraulic hoses, brake hoses, and tachometer cables. We are the only company east of Raleigh that can manufacture brake hoses.
One of our elements that sets us apart is our diversity of employees. Our staff stays on top of the market and allows us to do the things we do. They are extremely knowledgeable and each one has an expertise in different areas. It all meshes together to allow us to offer what we do and provide the best service possible.
